“Our calculations have proved that if the entire staircase were crowded with people it would support eight times that weight before breaking point was reached. I am convinced that the application of this use of concrete will introduce a new phase in architecture.” Best Overend, Herald Sun, 1936

We respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land, the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung peoples of the Eastern Kulin Nation, and pay respect to their Elders past, present and emerging. We also acknowledge that this land was taken without consent, and that reparations for the theft are long overdue. So, too, is recognition of the sovereignty of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Without measures of redress, it's surely impossible to speak of Australian nationhood with any integrity.
